Parish Project Promotes Prosperity

Lake Parish Council have secured a grant of £17,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, helping towards the next phases of the New Road project in Lake, and recognizing the investment made by the Parish Council in the public amenity, as well as the work of volunteers from the local Tidy Team and Men in Sheds during recent months.

Future phases of the project include new accessible seating, new planting and shrubbery, a flag-pole, small games, and possible murals; and will follow further consultation with stakeholders, and continues the promotion of local facilities and businesses.

Lake Parish Council Chair Paul Brading said ‘This is very much a part of Lake’s commitment to the Bay Place Plan, and thanks to Laura Cansdale and our local volunteers, we’ve secured this much welcome grant towards the improvements identified following community engagement.’

Elaine Hayes, from Lake Tidy Teams, added ‘This grant highlights the difference that our dedicated team of volunteers have already made to the Public Realm of the Parish, with New Road and the War Memorial being locations maintained and looked after by volunteers, with the support of the Parish Council.’

Lake Parish Council have already invested in improvements at Manor Road Playpark, water refilling station at Lake Cliff Gardens, and provision of a new defibrillator in recent months; and plan projects at Fairway Park, as well as supporting projects brought forward by Lake Tidy Teams and the Men in Sheds.

Paul concluded ‘Thanks to all involved, we are maintaining a momentum that puts local residents at the heart of decision making, and for a small Parish, we have already undertaken significant projects, with our partner’s, that make a real difference to people’s lives.’
